SERCO PECS – EXPOSURE TO COVID 19

To All GMB members at Serco Pecs,

It has come to my attention that members are being told by management that they should ignore the NHS track and trace instructions to self isolate and return to work. If you are instructed to self isolate you must, there are no exceptions.

As well as having a moral duty to your colleagues and to help the NHS. There is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT to self isolate when instructed to do so. Fines for those who break the rules start at £1,000 increasing up to £10,000 for repeat offenders.

I am reliably informed that there has been an outbreak at Buckingham Vehicle Base. It is thought that 7 staff have tested positive and a further 8 are already self isolating.

If you believe you have been exposed to Covid 19 at work please complete the attached form and return it to me at Freepost RTJL – ACJS – HATY 6, Gloster Court, Whittle Avenue Fareham PO15 5SH

Also please ensure details of the incident are recorded in the accident book.

Anyone can catch coronavirus and anyone can spread it. We all have crucial a part to play in keeping new infections down and protecting our colleagues and loved ones. Please continue to adhere rigidly to all the rules. Remember: Safety comes before operational needs.

I have taken the issues up with senior management and will keep you informed.
